7 or 8 years ago my dad ventured to Florida and brought back air plants as souvenir gifts. I didn't know anything about them, I've never heard of a plant that didn't need dirt. Dad said just water and light. Out of pure luck, I managed to keep mine alive and all the other ones dad brought home died. Ed and I keep it on our shower window ledge, so it would get steam, water and sun. Now, for the first time, it's bloomed! I didn't even know it could bloom! It used to be this clump of tropical green stems, now we have red stems with purple and yellow flowers. What an ugly little miracle.
it's beautiful!! i have never seen an air plant bloom.
