Moon Garden

The Moon Garden takes center stage this year.

Reading Roots, Shoots, Buckets, and Boots by Sharon Lovejoy inspired me to build this teepee structure that serves as a cubby hole once the fragrant Moon Flowers grow up the back sides (see Lovejoy's illustration below). The border of my Moon Garden, which is about three feet on each side of the moon cubby, is lined with Nigella, and Asyllum fills in the rest. Asyllum has a rich, sweet honey fragrance. All three flowers used are white.

"Fragrance is the color of night" ~ Sharon Lovejoy

Angelus puts the Moon Flower seeds in water to soak overnight before planting.

  2. Well, I've never had a moon garden but now I want one. We're newbies at the garden thing so maybe this will be something for us to try out next year. What would I have in my moon garden? White hydrangea, Peonies and iris and False spirea and of course I would have to have moon flowers too.

  4. Hi Thanks for stopping by. Umm... What's a Moon Garden?
I did sage my house after we bought it. We were having some weird things happening and I kept feeling like there was an angry woman in the house and I knew it wasn't me. Sooo... I just happened to see this shop called the Mystic Sage near my pediatricians office and stopped in. I told her what was happening and she handed me what looked like a large cigar and told me to burn it and fill every room with the smoke, and take back my home. She said in old homes there is alot of collected energy and the sage smaoke would cleanse out the bad energy and allow us to fill it with our positive energy. I though why not! And it worked! I did it two times and after about a week I could feel a difference. I called my mom who is a Pastor and told her I had become a pagan. She said no, that sage just has properties in it to clean the air and it's not anything super natural.
well, that works for me too!

  7. What a great idea! I wish I could grow more plants here in the desert...unfortunately my yard doesn't have very many plants in it. We have to be careful about conserving water where I live. Thank you for all your pictures of plants and gardens! At least I get to live our my garden dreams vicariously through your blog :-)

    Hope you are doing good!

    Blessings,

    Bex

  8. I predict that this will be a lovely garden. I think there is something called night blooming jasmine, but it may require a tropical climate. And I got my give-away box! Thank you SO much. It was so much fun to open, and all of the lovely goodies are finding different little homes around the place. I really appreciate it!
