Now In Season

My Farmer's Market opened today!

Angelus informed me on the way to the Farmer's Market that he wanted "blueberries, the red ones not the blue ones", a.k.a strawberries.

Life is just a pint of cherries.

I discovered something new today at the market, Garlic Scapes! These long curly creatures come from Garlic.

"The scapes are the flower stems that garlic plants produce before the bulbs mature. Growers often remove the scapes to push the plant’s energy toward bigger bulbs, and when harvested while they are young and tender, the scapes are delicious." ~ Mother Earth News

Rosemary & Scape Summer Salad
I chopped the garlic scapes up thin and sauteed with rosemary in olive oil. Adding salt and pepper, I poured them over cooked, cold pasta and topped with cool cucumbers. Urber easy and tasty.

  2. I so wish we could get those bing cherries near us... though I have been making jam all week long. I love the berry season...they seem to be so plump this year

  3. Angelus looks suspicious and tough eating that strawberry. Did he immediately throw down afterward?

    It's an awesome photo.

  6. Wow. What an amazing recipe! So simple and yet my mouth is watering thinking about it. Nobody seems to grow cherries and strawberries around these parts, so I'm jealous. "We be a simple folk. Just taters n maters." ;) Blessed be!

  7. I am an avid pasta lover. I was a pro at making spaghetti noodles before I was any good at pouring cereal (the milk jug was a little heavy for my tiny arms). This recipe sounds so very delicious! Thanks for sharing!

  10. We have received garlic scapes in our CSA shares this year, and have made some roasted squash/ scape dishes and some pesto with them...
