The Sunflower House

Humble beginnings. (This sunflower house is inspired by gardening author Sharon Lovejoy.)

Growing straight and true.

With stalks nice and tall now, Angelus slips in the doorway.

Welcome to my Sunflower House!

In one clean swoop, mother nature laughed last and blew our Sunflower House down with her tornado. I tried to fix it, but so many of the stalks are broke in half; it belongs to the insects, animals and birds now. It was nice while it lasted.

  1. Oh, I had a sunflower house almost every summer when I was growing up! We also made bean tepees. (Make a tepee-shape with some tall sticks, plant climbing beans at the base and let them grow!) Thanks for sharing :)

  2. Oh! What a lovely idea! I will plant one this next spring. The greatest thing is when it is done...it recycles...AWESOME!

  3. ooh dear- Mother Nature is a bit testy at times, isn't she? I like the sunflower house, but Syndii's bean teepee sounds more sturdy

  6. What a great idea for kids (and childlike adults!) I would love a sunflower house! So sad about the blow-down, but the birds will still appreciate the seeds!

  12. Beautiful and such an inspiring idea when I have a home of my own! You must live near me as we've been hammered by awful weather here in New York, tornadoes and all.

  13. So much fun. I might have to do this one day for the Wee One. ;) At least there's always next year. So relieved to hear that you and Angelus were left unharmed.

  17. So Beautiful!

Your son must have LOVED playing under it!

Kind of reminds me of the Circle of Life! It's created, it grows and flourishes, it experiences, it's lives and loves, then back it goes for another ride on the wheel!

That's why we should appreciate it while we have it! And it looks like he did!

Blessings to you and your family,
    Michael

  18. Slendid! From tiny seed~seeded rows came such an enchanting place for you and your Angelus to be! (Until Mother Nature decided to put her foot down, that is. Sometimes, she can be such a witch. lol!)
