Detroit Public Library

The Detroit Public Library was opened in its present location on March 21, 1921.

  1. What a gorgeous building! Our local libraries don't allow photography inside, but if they did I could spend as much time photographing them as I do reading.

    I like the photography on your blog; you have a good eye.

    When I first saw these photographs, I thought they were taken in San Francisco; that style of facade must have been very popular at the time these buildings were built.

    Beautiful structure.

    I especially like that stained glass window.

    And that card catalog! I don't think I've used one of those in fifteen years, certainly not this century; is that catalog still in use?
